Shirayama Hime Shrine, located in Ishikawa Prefecture at the foothills of the majestic Mt. Hakusan, is the head shrine among the approximately 3,000 Hakusan shrines across Japan, making it a significant site for spiritual devotion. Here, under the guidance of a Shinto priest, you can experience the Misogi ritual, which uses the pristine underground water from Mt. Hakusan. It is very rare for a shrine to have a Misogi area on its grounds, and it is also valuable for the general public to experience Misogi. Unlike takigyo, the waterfall meditation, this ritual keeps your hair and face dry. It is not a rigorous training, but rather an experience of traditional Japanese culture that purifies both body and spirit.

Private Misogi can be reserved anytime.*

Hours are morning (9:00am-11:30am) or afternoon (1:00pm-3:30pm).

 *Not available on the 1st of each month, the new year holiday period or during shrine event days.
